Getting Started
Travaio builds personalized, day-by-day itineraries in seconds. Here's how to go from sign-up to your first saved trip.
1. Create your account
Sign up free — no credit card required. You can start planning the moment your account is active.
2. Take the Traveler DNA quiz
The quiz takes about two minutes and walks you through 8 quick steps covering your travel pace, social style, food preferences, interests, budget comfort, and more. Your answers shape every itinerary Travaio builds for you.
3. Generate your first itinerary
Enter a destination and your travel dates. Travaio's AI builds a day-by-day plan in seconds — activities, timing, meals, and downtime, all tuned to your Traveler DNA.
4. Save your trip
Like what you see? Save the itinerary to your account so you can return to it, keep editing, or export it later. Free accounts can save up to 3 trips; Pro unlocks unlimited.
Tip
You can regenerate an itinerary at any time — change your destination or dates and Travaio will build a fresh plan from your current Traveler DNA.
Understanding Traveler DNA
Your Traveler DNA is Travaio's way of understanding who you are as a traveler. Think of it as a travel personality profile that informs how every itinerary is built.
What it is
A snapshot of your preferences across pace, social style, food, interests, and comfort with spontaneity. The richer your DNA, the more your itineraries feel like they were written by a friend who knows you.
How it personalizes itineraries
- Pace — whether you pack every hour or leave room to wander.
- Vibe — the overall mood, from high-energy city days to slow, scenic mornings.
- Rhythm— how activities are sequenced so you don't burn out by day three.
- Interests — prioritizing the things you actually care about (food, history, nature, nightlife, and more).
How to update it
Your preferences change — and your DNA should too. Head to Account › Preferences to retake the quiz or adjust individual answers at any time. New trips will reflect your updated profile right away.
Customizing Your Itinerary
A generated itinerary is just the starting point. Travaio makes it easy to shape any plan until it's exactly right.
Swapping activities
Don't love a suggestion? Click any activity and choose Swap. Travaio will offer AI-generated alternatives that still fit your day, timing, and Traveler DNA.
Adding activities
Want more in a time slot? Choose Add and Travaio suggests new activities that work for that part of your day.
Editing activity details
Open any activity to adjust its time, cost, description, or your own notes. Everything you edit stays yours, even if you regenerate the rest of the itinerary.
Drag and drop reordering
Prefer a different flow for the day? Drag activities to reorder them and Travaio keeps the timing sensible as you go.
Multi-city trips Pro
Planning a route across several cities? Pro lets you build multi-city itineraries — set the order of your stops and Travaio plans each leg, including travel time between cities.
Saving & Managing Trips
Saved trips live in your account so you can return to them anytime — on any device you're signed in on.

Accessing saved trips
Go to Account › My Trips to see everything you've saved. From there you can open, duplicate, or continue editing any trip.
Archiving and deleting trips
Finished a trip? Archive it to keep your active list tidy without losing the plan. Need it back? Unarchive anytime. To remove a trip for good, use delete — this can't be undone.
Exporting Your Trip
Take your itinerary anywhere. From any saved itinerary, click the Export button and pick the format that fits how you travel.

How to export
Open any saved itinerary and click Export. Pick a format, and Travaio prepares your file. For formats that open in another app (like Google Calendar), allow the pop-up or check your browser's pop-up blocker if nothing appears.
Weather & Packing
Travaio looks at the forecast for your destination so you pack smarter and stay flexible.
Weather-aware packing lists
Based on the forecast for your dates, Travaio generates a packing list that accounts for expected temperatures, rain, and the activities on your itinerary. No more guessing.
Weather contingency Pro
On Pro, when rain is in the forecast, outdoor activities can automatically swap to indoor alternatives so your day still works — no scrambling on the morning of.
How to access
Open any itinerary and switch to the Packing tab to see your weather-aware list. Check off items as you pack.
Budget & Expenses
Travaio helps you keep money in view while you plan, and settle up after.
- Per-activity cost estimates — every activity includes an estimated cost so you can see what a day adds up to.
- Daily and total budget tracking — watch your spending add up across the whole trip and spot days that run hot.
- Per-traveler expense splitting — split costs across your group and see who owes what without a spreadsheet.
- Currency conversion— for international trips, see costs in your home currency so you always know what you're really spending.
AI Agent Access (MCP)
Connect AI agents like Claude Desktop to Travaio so your agent can read your trips and help you plan — right from your chat. This is a Pro feature.
How to set it up
- Go to Account › Subscription › AI Agent Access.
- Generate an API key for your agent.
- Copy the provided Claude Desktop configuration snippet.
- Paste it into your Claude Desktop configuration file and restart Claude Desktop.
What your agent can do
Once connected, your agent can list your saved trips, get the details of a specific itinerary, and export itineraries — so you can ask things like “What's on day two of my Japan trip?” or “Export my Paris itinerary as text.”
Good to know
Your agent only ever sees what you allow through the key you generate. You can revoke a key at any time from the same settings page.

How to upgrade
Go to Account › Subscription › Upgrade and pick the plan that works for you. You can switch between monthly and yearly billing at any time.

My itinerary didn't generate
Check your internet connection and try again. Generation needs a connection to work; a brief network hiccup is usually the cause.
I can't save my trip
Check whether you've hit your tier limit — free accounts can save up to 3 trips. Archive or delete an older trip to make room, or upgrade to Pro for unlimited saves.
The AI suggestions don't match my style
Your Traveler DNA drives personalization. Update it under Account › Preferences and your next itinerary will reflect the changes.
Export isn't working
Try a different format first — if nothing happens, your browser's pop-up blocker may be stopping the export window. Allow pop-ups for Travaio and try again.
